Vic Civil was engaged as the main civil contractor at the new Docklands Studios Stage 6 project, in Docklands Melbourne.

The project is located adjacent to tidal water, resulting in construction methodologies which considered the tidal movements when excavations were undertaken. The project is due for completion at end of 2021.

Vic Civil undertook piling for the new ball catching net abutting Trinity Grammars’ playing fields located in Bulleen, Melbourne.

The construction of 60 piles in challenging ground conditions in a reduced timeframe was completed on time, allowing the fence to be installed in time for sporting activities to continue. The ball catching net will be in placed for up to 10 years while the main tunnel works are undertaken.

Vic Civil were engaged as structural and civil contractor for the project inclusive of enabling works for the project with dual contract award essentially de-risking the project from a groundworks to structural handover. Works commenced with the establishment of a series of temporary COVID hardstand for the hospital establishment and commenced main works late 2020

The refurbishment project consists of taking a cold shell building and strengthening the existing lift core and columns to produce a code compliant building fit for future refurbishment by Australia Unity. The project boast working from basement 2 through to level 15 for concrete works consisting of:

• Sandblasting prep and substrates prep
• Drill, dowel and epoxy 40,000 dowel bars
• Supply, fix and placement of 180tonne of steel
• Supply, pump and finish 1000m3 of shotcrete from 40MPa to 65MPa
• Grout and infill in excess of 600 small to large services penetrations in structure

Vic Civil is currently working at the Pacific National site in West Melbourne completing necessary maintenance and repairs to existing pavements and stormwater assets. The pavement repairs range from small surface repairs using a high strength epoxy, to full demolition and construction of a new concrete roadway depending on the specific situation. There are also numerous stormwater pits on site that have failed and caved in, which Vic Civil has been demolishing and replacing with new Class-G lids and concrete surrounds.

As part of the hospital upgrade Vic Civil completed the asphalt carpark and concrete kerbs at South-Eastern Private Hospital. The entire project was completed in around 4 weeks and didn’t disrupt any of the existing residents or movements within the hospital. Vic Civil installed approximately 1,200m2 of asphalt carpark and 200 lineal meters of concrete kerb and channel as well as concrete footpaths and ramps.

Vic Civil was the primary contractor for both the structural strengthening and environmental remediation works for an old mechanics building in Kew, which is being developed into apartments. As the site itself is heritage listed the entire external wall extent needed to be protected. This led to about 50 lineal meters of underpinning required to be completed to remove buried fuel and oil tanks littered around the site. Once the underpinning was completed each one of the 7 tanks could be removed some requiring excavations of around 3 meters deep. Most of the soil removed from these excavations was classified as Category B contaminated soil which was farmed on site. With guidance from DRC Environmental Vic Civil was able to turn the Category B soil into Category C which was a big benefit for the client saving on disposal costs.

Vic Civil is currently contracted as head contractor to undertake pavement remediation works at the ICL facility in Laverton. This is a trucking warehouse facility, with significant pavement loads from both truck and forklift traffic.
The facility forms a critical part of Saputo Dairy’s operations in Victoria, and the pavement repairs were required to be undertaken in such a way that trucking movements were not impacted.
Our scope involved demolition, subgrade remediation, service remediation and form, reo and pour works.

Major civil contractor for bundle 3 schools development with tight programme and deadlines all to be completed by December 2020. New venture and partnership with Kane for the building projects for half the associated civil works packages.

Vic Civil were engaged to remediate an old dry cleaning factory site in Brunswick. The contamination was extensively modelled and contaminant source was to be removed and treated on site. A total of 4000t of material was treated on site through granulated activated carbon filtration in conjunction with aeration of soils.

The contaminated soil was excavated using a hit and miss piling sequence so as to minimise impact on local amenity. This approach significantly reduced the clients remediation costing, leading to more attractive development prospects.
